A Safer Community
Under the Conservatives, Ministers and Police and Crime Commissioners police numbers have reduced and now we are 4th from bottom with 161 officers per 1000,00 population compared to say neighbouring Leicestershire with 204 per 100,00. In addition, the force is in “Special Measures”. Our local PCSOs need all the help they can get, and we will give it to them.
Work with our communities and partners to reduce anti-social behaviour.
We help to ensure residents, visitors and those working in the area do not suffer any form of harassment, alarm or distress caused by others who behave in an anti-social and nuisance manner. If necessary, the Council can issue a Community Protection Warnings and Notices. We will take action whether it is litter, flytipping, graffiti or threatening behaviour.
Invest in activities for our young people.
The County Council cut the Youth Service some years ago, but we will try to find activities for our young residents so that they are safe at night.
Improve and update CCTV schemes where anti-social behaviour is a problem.
CCTV is an excellent deterrent for crime and anti-social behaviour, as long as they are switched on, and using the latest technology. We will have a programme of reviewing the schemes we have seek to add others where needed.
Help our local residents to make our streets safer.
We need to hear what issues residents have in their own streets. We want to hear from young people as well as our older residents on what they think would make them feel safer.
Work with police and local communities to reverse the amount of car crime in our area.
We will work in partnership with our local Police and Police and Community Support Officers to have meaningful strategies to reduce the increase in car crimes in our district. It is vital that we try to make up for the cuts in Police numbers we have seen in Staffordshire under the Government since 2010.
