Chasetown Ward

Hello and we hope you’re well,

As your Labour candidates for Chasetown ward in the local elections for Lichfield District Council on 4th May, we are writing to ask for your support by introducing ourselves and highlighting some of the things we want to achieve by working hard to improve for all of the residents of our town.

Darren Ennis

Born and bred in Chasetown, I am really passionate in making sure this part of our town gets the best it can.  My own business Haywoods Blinds is in the ward and I employ people from across the town.

Over the last 8 years as a Chasetown Councillor, I helped and supported local businesses, local community groups, and residents and I want to carry this work on.

Working with community groups to improve the lives of Burntwood residents is a key goal for making a Better Burntwood and something we need to build on and make thrive.  We will carry on flying the Chasetown Flag and making sure we get all the investment and resources to help deal with the issues affecting us all in our town.

Laura Ennis

In the last 4 years as a Burntwood Councillor I have gained great knowledge and experience.  This has been done through working to help residents with issues from social housing, fly tipping and anti-social behaviour.

I walk around Chasetown every day taking my children to school at St Joseph’s and Theresa’s Primary School on the High Street.  Also working at the school, gives me the chance to see the development of our young children and this spurs me on to make our Town the safest environment it can be offering the best education for our children.

A vote for us, is a Vote for Common Sense, Community Spirit, and a Better Burntwood.  As Labour Councillors we will continue to:

  • Support our local businesses and community groups: specifically, on Chasetown High Street, St Anne’s Church, Chasetown Methodist Church, Chasetown Football Club and Burntwood Rugby Club to name a few.
  • Continue to protect the Green Belt, defending it in planning meetings and raising awareness locally.  Also championing Chasewater which is the Crown Jewel of our Town.
  • Provide cleaner streets by tackling litter, fly-tipping and parking issues. Working with Burntwood Litter Heroes and liaising with the Council’s amazing maintenance team to make sure our area looks great.
  • Improve Community safety, providing greater reassurance against crime. Will challenge the local Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner and request more visible policing in Chasetown now that we locally have a new policing model.
  • Spend your money wisely, with sound, fair and transparent budgets. We will champion extra investment within the Chasetown Ward.

Our manifesto for 2023, which highlights our 5 core aims:
